VOIP adapter to cable modem

Hello,

I bought a cable modem for my brother but didn't realize they also had VOIP.

Could I get a VOIP adapter of some sort and use one of the network ports for their VOIP? I am trying to find if something like this exists.

They use Roadrunner.
