Voice Navigation Not Working On Android...

Seems to be a common problem on both iPhone and Android. So I checked mine and dang (Android) it doesn't work...tried all the usual google search suggestions and no help. I never did like google maps...any thoughts on this?? Perhaps a delete / reinstall?? Or delete and install something else?? Any thoughts??
 
I uninstalled Maps / re-installed maps...no help. I then uninstalled maps and installed Waze...everything works including Voice navigation...
