Everyone hates the driver that isn't their favorite. Your driver is great, and the other guy's driver is shit. Winning the F1 championship has nothing to do with it.

Winning the F1 championship doesn't mean you are the best driver anyway. No one believes that. Rarely does a driver win the F1 championship these days in the car that is not considered the best car. If you aren't in the best car, you aren't going to be F1 champ, regardless of your driving.

I have no idea what makes him an idiot, but you're favourite driver has lied, tried to bring teams into disrepute, made questionable remarks regarding Hamilton and his origins.

But yeah, he's probably an idiot...

Who said Alonso was my favorite driver? Where do folks get this tendency to put words in people's posts that aren't there?

My favorite driver was Ayrton Senna, then it would be Schumacher, then Nigel Mansell, then JPM, none of whom are in F1 anymore.

I can only name a few of the current drivers at the moment. None of them stand out much above the crowd in driving ability, imo, except Alonso. Alonso seems to be able to get more out of an inferior car.

Raikonnen won the F1 title, and he certainly wasn't the best driver that year.

Note that I said driving ability, not PR ability. 😀

 
Not only that, I put a smiley after I said Hamilton was an idiot, both times, indicating that I was joking. Apparently few people saw it. Twice.

I'm not so sure about that. Alonso was in a McLaren, which was easily one of the top 2 cars that year, and didn't win the championship. He didn't even beat Hamilton actually, just barely managed a tie out of luck that Hamilton screwed up the last race of 2007.

And as for Alonso making a comeback in the last few races of 2008, I would attribute that more to Renault making the car better throughout the season, along with some luck from his teammate's crash.
 
This year looks to be interesting as every car seems to be at least somewhat competitive. The Brawn (Honda) was the fastest in testing at Barcelona. Exciting!
 
It looks like that every year, then we watch in vain for anyone to be able to pass... 😀

Supposedly that odd looking narrow wing will allow that, but we'll see...
