Vocals in music today. All sound the same?

I've noticed that there's a very generic sound to vocalists on the music I hear on the air, recently. I'll take a couple examples. Puddle of Mudd - Blurry, and Default - Wasting My Time. Listen to those songs one after another - and many other different bands. Is it the same guy that sings for all of them or what? 😕

you're trying to tell me that default's singer sounds anything like puddle of mudd? extremely bad example. 😀

try.... stroke 9, unwritten law, flickerstick, lifehouse, phantom planet, train, etc.

Wtf? lol... TRAIN? Lifehouse? Come on! Drops of Jupitor vs Hanging by a Moment? Completely completely different vocal sound. I think my example was much better. 😛 But I think you see where I'm coming from.

BTW - it MUST be a thing of the time, cause back in Queen and Led Zep's day, they all sung higher, but they SOUNDED DIFFERENT 😀

<< Lifehouse and Train? Talk about another bad example.

Try Nickleback, Creed and Course of Nature.
>>

Glad you agree his example was bad... but Nickelback and Creed? Oh god, come ON! More like Creed and Pearl Jam.. well, rather just Creed trying to sound like Pearl Jam (vocally)

lol

You're defending the opposite end of your argument. 🙂

Nickleback and Creed aren't exactly the same, but it's that deep, muffled kind of sound.

Nickleback and Course of Nature are EXACTLY the same, though. 🙂
