VNF3-250 comp just took a dump. What do you think happened.

Well my new system just took a turn for the worse. Well first off my new system is/was a 3200+ Newcastle, a VNF3-250, 1gb 512x2 Corsair XMS XL, BFG 6800gt, Antec True 430, Hitachi 80gb SATA 8mb cache, Samsung DVD, and an Audigy 2 zs. Not a bad system and it was running like a dream with no problems. Just got it like 2 weeks ago. I was using the standard AMD heatsink with the thermal pad as not to void warranty. I have 4 case fans and a slot cooler so heat wasn't much of an issue. Standard bios and up to date drivers. A direct SATA power cable to the hard drive, DVD rom on a individual line, and the 6800Gt on its own individual line. The Antec Power supply was a great choice for this system as it had a ton of individual connectors.

Well for the past two weeks it had been running perfectly normal except for the small fact I had to disable fast writes for games and benches to run without stalls. I read a thread on www.nvnews.net where a bunch of people had to either set 3d and 2d clocks the same or disable fast writes to get things running stable. Still it ran flawlessly getting 11k+ 03 marks. Then all of the sudden today I was watching an MPEG movie using windows media player and my system died. Instant shutoff. I think ok that?s not good. So I give it a minute for the hard drive to stop and the system to cool playing it safe.

I push the power button and the fans and lights come on for just a second and go off. So I start thinking my power supply took a crap. So I pull my system out from under my desk and unplug it and let it sit for awhile for the power supply to discharge. I then disconnect everything but the connections to the mobo and video card. I try it that way and get the same thing where the fans come on for just a second. So I now know my power supply isn't working. I go and get my spare, and disconnect the Antec to take out. I put in my spare that came with the case, a 350Watt no name. It should be enough to at least boot. Connect up the bare bones and try to boot. No dice not even slightly spinning fans.

So something must be wrong with my mobo too. Not a big deal just RMA the mobo and power supply and chip. I would test the chip but I don't got a spare 64 mobo to try it on. I am going to try my ram, my GT, and my Audigy in my Barton system so I know if I have to send them back to.

Well my ram, video card, hard drive, and hopefully sound card are all in working order. Still gotta test my sound card but I will put it in my test system after I put everything back in it.

Come on someone post. I feel like a lost a new pet. Oh well some good has atleast come out of this. Got my barton system all cleaned up and did some cable management so my voltages are a lot more stable and my airflow is better.
