VNC w/MDK8 does not see keyboard entry!

I have VPN and VNCVIEWER working great on Win98SE and Solaris (SPARC)
machines at home. I connect to SUN Solaris at work.

My problem is that I installed VPN and VNCVIEWEER on a Linux Partition
(other partition is Win98se and it works great). This is Mandrake 8
(2.4.3-20) and I get my vpn connection VERY FAST. I got a vncviewer,
and when I connect at work I find my mouse is fine, but nothing I type
on my keyboard is seen.

I also tried using a browser to connect to the vncserver at work.
Although this works fine in win98se or solaris, I get the same problem
on LINUX. It displays my machine at work, I can navigate with the
mouse, but it just does NOT see any key strokes.

Any idea what is wrong? Can it be that I have my keyboard defined
wrong in MDK8?

how did you set up the refresh? I just started using vnc on win2k and linux. I had to set the refresh or polling for the window selected. This enabled me to get my keystrokes to show up on terminal screens/console screens on the remote computer. mine is really slow though, i think it is slow b/c of the forwarding through ssh. my viewer doesn't work with full screen console modes on either end(linux or win2k.)? it works with small windows though.

from the faq:
maybe you're hitting a control key, or something that gets interpreted as a control key? hit the control keys one at a time until you can type again.

oh yeah, some earlier versions don't work well in console modes such as dos. maybe try upgrading to the latest version if you already haven't.

Thanks, I did do a partial fix...it has to do with the -geometry. I made it smaller and it now takes my keystrokes. Need to fix scrolling as I can move down screen, but once there, can not go back up again!
