wanted to test 64 bit ubuntu so i grabbed vpc 2007 (64 vit ver). 1st thing that seems odd is that it installs to my program files(x86) folder. after this, when trying to install from the ubuntu 64bit iso i get an error saying it cant install it. seems to run in 32bit only.

i tried vmware workstation and had the same problem - even though i chose ubuntu 64-bit as an option.

is there any way to get this working?

i'm running on vista 64

VPC2007 runs on 64-bit hosts, but only supports 32-bit guests.

Not sure about VMware workstation.

VMWare Server 1.0.3 says it supports 64-bit guests on both of my Linux installations.

the error came up when i created the vm. something about not being able to run 64 bit in this environment (sorry about not being precise).

will check the bios for vt next time around (am encoding at the mo and dont want to cancel)
