If you might have a similar problem. This may help.
I have a virtual machine running windows xp-sp3 (without network connections , so it is save. I have it sort of running as a sandbox) and i run my pcb design program on it.
When i started my pcb design program before the update, it was usable but annoyingly slow, especially when i tried to draw copper traces. I decided to see if an update would help.
I have just updated vmware player to 7.1.2 . And i have updated the vmware tools. And when i started my pcb program, the graphics driver would crash as soon as i tried to draw a trace. Disappointed, i googled, and found an solution for an ancient version. Disable hardware acceleration for the graphics adaptor. So i disabled the 3d acceleration and now it works, the pcb program is very responsive and fast now and does not crash anymore the graphic driver. I am very pleased.
