Im in the IT field and ive gotten interested in learning vmware solutions... anyone know of any books or resources out there that i can read?. Preferable books, I find virtualization interesting and perhaps something good to learn for the future.

Why books? You can download free options (VMware Server, VMware Player, ESXi). The pay products (like Workstation) have trials.

You could be up & running 30 minutes from now, which IMO is more exciting (and valuable) than ordering a book and reading about it once it shows up.

Being a VCP in VI3 and vSphere, I can definitely say that virtualization is an exciting field to be in! I agree that trying the software out and learning as you go is a great first step. Secondly, there are a number of great books out there...

I think that is probably a great start for basic understanding of VMware's vSphere product. Alternatively, going through VMware's own product documentation is a great way to learn their products.
