I've been trying to install several different versions of VMware lately, and every single one of them freezes my machine during the install. Its always during the part it says "installing services" or something like that. It freezes the machine to the point where reboot is the only option.
 
what OS?
any security policies in place?
anything in the event log?
ACTUAL error\point at which it freezes?

you didn't give us anything to work with.
