i'm guessing hte 32 bit versus 64 bit may have somethign to do with this...

problem is that i am replacing a win2k3 server (32 bit P4) with a dual AMD, except it wouldn't install. so i put XP on the AMD, installed vmware, restored the backup, and now it BSOD's inside the vmware window (doesn't effect the host machine).

ANY idea how i can get this damned image to run on my AMD machine as a virtual machine?

is it just a matter of upgrading win2k3 to the 64 bit edition or something? note i have tons of stuff installed - including a complex exchange server set up and security certificates, which is why i can't just start from scratch...

thanks :)

You going to need to do a repair install within the virutal machine, it doesnt like going from Intel to AMD, Vmware doesnt emulate one instruction set it passes thru much of the cpu features so your vm isn't happy.
