So I created an iso file of my windows 7 on my pc, put it on USB Flash drive, and ran VMWare Fusion 6 on my Macbook Air, installed no issues. Am I allowed to take out the USB Flash drive now? Or DO I need to copy the ISO file to my Mac, and redo the install? I Try ejecting the iso now, and it says the USB drive is in use.

Also. Is it ok to install windows updates when using VMWare Fusion 6?

THanks

Just shut down the computer and then pull it out.

The ISO is only needed during installation, after that you don't need it anymore. You can also change the default settings of your VM for where to look for a CD drive (physical CD-ROM, ISO file, or disable - iirc there's a "no CD" option or something available).

You are now running a full copy of Windows; you can run updates & do everything else you would normally do. Make sure you slap on some antivirus, MSE at the very lease.

+1 on shut it down and remove it to avoid the warning.

You should be able to put that vmware drive file anywhere on any computer (even a windows computer with vmware installed). You will get a warning and may or may not need to reboot the virtual machine itself when moving between computers.

That said, IME even a fast usb drive will run a VM annoyingly slow. Last I tried was maybe 1.5 years ago with a USB 2 drive, so a modern USB3 drive may do better. Good luck.
