I got 2 DC VMUs shipped to my office from buy.com
For some reason they came without a name on them, so the recept and the VP of Recruiting/Retention opened it up. These are Japanese import VMUs. The recept told me later that they thought they might be little bombs!
They actually investigated far enough to open one up, pull out the battery insulator and fire it up. I guess since when you turn it on it says "Visual Memory Unit" in English, where everything else is in Kanji, they figured it out.
Whether it's prudent if you think something is an explosive device to pull out a tab on the back and start pushing buttons is a different matter altogether, but it's kinda humorous in retrospect, although 2 weeks ago it would have been much more amusing....
