So, over the last week or two both or my rigs, HTPC and desktop which run Vista Ultimate 32 and 64 respectively, have become slightly unstable. Problems usually manifest themselves when browsing network locations on either machine. Windows explorer will hang/crash entirely. This happens on both machines
Yesterday I went to watch some tv on my HTPC using VMC which had been working perfectly for a month or so since I set it up. Now all of a sudden VMC can't find my tuner. VMC will hang for a couple minutes before telling me it can't find my tuner or just hang until I close the program. My tuner works fine with Arcsoft Total Media so I know it's not a hardware problem. I'm also getting constant messages about VMC receiver service and cable subscription service(iirc) encountering an error and needing to shut down.
I figured it was a Windows Update problem and uninstalled all the updates from the last couple weeks, but that did nothing to solve the problem. I have no restore points saved either so I'm kind of at a loss on what to do. Anyone have any suggestions?
I've googled this a bit and found people with my exact same problems, but never how they fixed it...
