I installed 3.0.5 a couple weeks ago on this, my new Win10 64bit rig. Played a DVD using my internal LG WH16NS40 16x Internal Super Multi Blue Blu-ray Disc Rewriter (OEM Version).

So, yesterday I go to play a BR movie on it, got errors... it needs files. Searching I see those files are available.

I went to get the missing files and it's war. The site that has the KEYDB.CFG file I need is unsecured and Firefox refused to hit it! "vlc-bluray.whoknowsmy.name uses an invalid security certificate". The other file, LIBAACS.DLL is tough to find.

Why do they make you jump through hoops just to play a BR movie? Can't they incorporate that into the DL/Install? Have they fixed that in the new release?

Is VLC really the best freeware movie software for the PC?

Pot Player is better just for playback, but VLC has alot of other functionality.

Pot player did alot better with 4k remux's on my system than VLC did, hell VLC straight up crashed on most of them, and the ones that do play are choppy. Pot player is smooth as silk.

Thanks, I'll give Potplayer a go! Looks to be available, probably safely here:

I've been using 3.0.7.1 for a week now. No problems - a seamless update.

So have i, and its better with 4k content now that previous versions, better HDR as well. Looks like its trying to gain some market share back as VLC really dropped the ball with 4k previously.
