VLC audio problems when playing movie

Every 20 seconds or so playing a movie with VLC the audio skips a beat making it very annoying and unwatchable. The only reason why I am using VLC and not another player is because it can play a .bin file straight. Any ideas on how I can fix this skipping problem would be appreciated.

Audio only skipping with .bin files, other than that VLC works perfectly with wmv, mpeg etc.

you might want to try the latest version of mplayer for win32, since it is much more updated than vlc at the moment. There should be a current cvs version off the first page of google results.
