VLC, anyway to skip to next video in folder without setting a playlist?

in MPC-HC pressing page down skips to the next video (or chapter if it has them) but i can't find that option in VLC. gone through hotkeys but the candidates don't work (or just jump to the start and end of that specific video only).

a google only results in info about playlists.

also, is there anyway to make VLC remember the last video position? it remembers size but never the position and jumps about like crazy at times.
