2.0.4 is a major update that fixes a lot of regressions of the 2.0.x branch of VLC. 2.0.4 introduces an important number of fixes and improvements for all playback, notably for Blu-Ray, DVD, HLS, Ogg and MKV files; but also for Youtube, Vimeo, Koreus and Soundcloud.
2.0.4 adds Opus codec support, including multichannel ones and streams, and MSS playback through DMO libraries.
2.0.4 fixes numerous issues, including audio device selection, Qt and Mac OS interface, security issues and Windows wallpaper mode...
With faster decoding on multi-core, GPU, and mobile hardware and the ability to open more formats, notably professional, HD and 10bits codecs, 2.0 was a major upgrade for VLC.
2.0.4 fixes around a hundreds of bugs, and adds more than 300 commits on top of 2.0.3.

VLC's "check for updates" thing doesn't work. I was still using 2.0.2, under the misguided belief that "you have the latest version" actually meant I had the latest version.

Thank you, it's working well here but the VLC update checker is broken, i can't remember the last time it worked!

I'm pretty excited about Opus support. I'm hoping it catches on in general use.

I've noticed that too. I went to the site directly to dl it. I've noticed it in the past that the check for updates didn't work. Not sure if it just doesn't work, or it's something about how I have things set up, or what.

Yeah..... No. Downloaded and installed. Still struggles to playback my BR rips and FF/Rew is almost completely unusable on my Quad-core with nVidia GT240. Back to TheKMPlayer.
