We just bought a Vizio Smart TV, replacing a 32" HD TV that was hooked up to a pc running windows media center, rca cables to the Marantz Surround Sound. The 32" RCA TV was also hooked up to the Marantz and ran fine. Now I need to hook up the VIZIO to the Marantz. The new TV has only one component hookup, 4 HDMI's and a pc/usb. I'm thinking I can run an HDMI from the receiver (it has 4 also) to the HDMI on the TV but then I don't know if I would have to change settings to get sound. I tried this already and got nothing for sound.

HELP!

Does your TV and Reciever support ARC? If so, plug the HDMI cord into the HDMI input on your tv that has the ARC and plug the other end into the HDMI input on the receiver that supports ARC

Unless I did something wrong...... I tried this and the ARC does work but the TV was limited to Stereo so I had to plug my PC into my Receiver to select 5.1 in my PC's Speaker settings.

ARC seems to work for the Smart TV apps though....

However if I plug my PC to the TV and use ARC to the Receiver it will just have Stereo under the Speaker settings in Windows.

Everything I've read says that if you're bitstreaming from Windows you need to set the speakers to stereo. Seems to work that way for my HTPC; AVR does all the decoding.

I just noticed through the TV it will be listed as Stereo and through the AVR it will display 5.1 or 7.1 depending on your decoder is all.

This may only be important for PC gaming though.
