Hello everyone, I am wondering if someone out there can give me a bit of guidance.
I have a VIZIO 47in LED, model M470VT. I purchased this refurbished and have used it less than a year. A couple months ago the image suddenly went extrememly bright. It's actually not really viewable. There is a band of less bright image, about 2 inches in diameter, that moves up the screen and then starts over again. Sound works fine. The brighness issue occurs regardless of source- Cable TV or DVD.
One additional piece of information. I wasn't home when this happened, my wife told me that the TV was off and that when she turned it on it was like this. On this day there was a severe thunder / lightening storm in our area and perhaps the issue is related??? We do not have a surge protector.
I've talked extensively with Vizio tech support and due to the fact that the tv is re-furbished it isn't covered under waranty. After trying every imaginable reset and configuration they've told me there is a mechanical issue; however, they wouldn't tell me any specifics.
I've taken off the back cover to look at everything and there aren't and blown capacitors, loose wires, or visible corrupt parts.
I've found a motherboard on-line that I'm thinking about purchasing and replacing. First thing I'd like to do is see if that is my next step or should I try something else?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!
