I was strolling by the electronics section at my local Wal-Mart the other day, and I noticed two Vizio 50" plasma HDTV boxes. They weren't marked with a price, but walmart.com lists them at $1398.

Are these the same models that Costco carries?

Does anyone here own this TV? Is it decent considering the price?

Anyone know if it will go on special again for $998 like on BF?

Is it the P50 or the VP50?

Were you able to compare it side-by-side with the other plasmas that Costco carries?

VP50 20A

I never put much thought into side-by-sides in stores since there is no guarantee that they have been properly calibrated, that the video feeds are good, or that some knucklehead didn't drop it when mounting.

To me the picture is awesome.

Hmmm... Same price point. Similar specs. Better brand name. Better PQ?

Eh, I think if you register on Samsung.com you get an extra 3 month warranty, that right there makes me want to buy it, and it is brand new model as well.

That is true (about the Samsung warranty). I have 2 Samsung 4065F LCDs and you get an extra 3 months of warranty by registering online. I'm going to use logic here and say that they do this for their plasma TVs too!

They do it for their LED DLPs as well, so I guess the same is for their Plasmas.
