vitamins vs vegatables; anyone have some weight loss tips

I'm trying to improve my health and eating patterns, but on many occasions I don't have time to cook so I end up eating fast food. So what I was wondering is can I get the same benefits from vegetables if I take vitamins on a daily basis?

I'm a 29 year old male weighing about 258 (down from 298)

I've been doing a lot more working out than I have in past months which has helped with my weight loss, I've also over the past 2 weeks or so have been taking 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with my meals. It appears to be working pretty well, I'm going to continue to use it and keep a more accurate record of of my wieght loss

anyone got some good weight loss tips

I just lost 10 lbs on my own makeshift diet.

Cut out the fast food and get a low fat sub/grinder instead, if you absolutely don't have time to make your own food.
Eat salad when you can (make salad at home and bring some to work with you or whatever), get some baby peeled carrots to snack on, and eat lots of protein.
Avoid starchy foods or anything with a lot of carbs, and kiss candy goodbye for a while.
Try and go running for at least 45 minutes, at least twice a week.
Drink LOTS of water.

he said he was 258 I doubt he can get enough casual sex to even break a sweat.

I'm married so sex for me is a lot better than casual

Sir Frederick is a wise man! That's all really good advice.

I would also suggest weight training... the more muscle mass you have the higher your metabolism. If you have lots of muscle even sitting on your ass you'll burn more fat.

Don't be looking for magical cures--there aren't any. What is the medical science behind weight loss via vinegar?? Don't want to bag on you, but it sounds like a crock to me! I think the working out is what got you down to 258, not the vinegar... but hey I could be wrong!

The only supplement that you might want to consider is the ECA stack. Do a search in OT on ephedrine, and also on the web. You'll find a lot of conflicting information. People will tell you that it's a death sentence. While I most definitely agree that ephedrine is contraindicated in some cases (high bp, pre-existing heart conditions, MAOI inhibitor meds, etc.) it does assist in fat burning for many people without any serious side effects. Taken together with caffeine in proper ratio (1:10) it does have a measurable effect... it also has the benefit of sparing lean muscle mass during fat loss (unavoidably your body consumes muscle as well whenever it doesn't get enough calories from the diet). Look into it. For various reasons you may decide that the potential risks aren't worth it for you, and that's 100% fine... just make an informed decision. Ask your doctor about it, and if in doubt don't do it.

However, that's the only "suplement" I put any faith in, but I'm also not an herbal "miracle cure" kind of person. Losing fat takes a lot of willpower and hard work--right now that's the only thing that works short of stomach stapling and gastric bypass. You can do without the fast food. Processed carbs are the debbil. Do away with them and you'll find yourself losing weight steadily--especially with the exercise.

Sir Frederick gave you all the info you need! Just do it.

Glad to hear your diet is working out, man.

I'm also on the road to weight loss. I'm currently 225 (from 250) and I'm slowly whittling away the fat.

What does the apple cider vinegar do? Is that something that some diet doctor dude says to do? Never heard of any diets involving apple cider vinegar. Where can i read up on this?

My diet plan is as follows (and as far as i can tell, it's working damn well):

  • No food past 7 pm
  • No fast food
  • No donuts or anything bad like that
  • Low sodium
  • Low saturated fat
  • Lots of water
  • I never had a problem with not eating veggies, but i eat even more now
  • DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION for an hour every night

Good luck with your diet, ark! America is heavy enough as it is.

Hi there!

Please really check into some of those weight lose supplements such as ephedrine. Drugs like that are actually banned in Canada, for damn good reason.

Count calories, cut calories and burn calories. Eat a variety of foods and if you feel you should, take a multi vitamen. If you want, PM me and I can help you out. I would be more than willing to do that!

The rule of Skoorb - To lose weight, you burn off more than you take in!

Best of luck and good job so far!

Stay away from the pills. Diet and exercise are all you need. If you cut out everything bad for you then you will fail. Set a diet and exercise plan that you can realistically follow 6 days a week. One day a week just don't worry about it but don't go overboard.

A book that really opened my eyes was The Anti-Aging Plan. It was written by a doctor that went in one of those Biodomes and he reported his findings on his "nutrient-dense" calorie diet and its effect. Basically, eat fruits, veges, grains, and beans. There were also many recipes for low-calorie, high-nutrient meals. He suggested that if you have little time to cook, cook 7 servings on a sunday and freeze them. You could try that.

As for exercise, I think walking for at least an hour per day is the best exercise for somebody trying to lose weight.

And Arkitech, good for you! 🙂
