Vitamin Absorption?

I know that synthetic vitamins are absorbed by the body less efficiently than those found naturally in foods. My question is more specific towards Vitamin B. I've heard that if you injest it, it isn't absorbed at all, that you need to let it dissolve in your mouth. Is that true and if so, how does digestion break down Vitamin B into useslessness.
