Hey I have a simple question that I can't find a real answer to on the MS website. Can I activate a single (legal) copy of VS.NET on one computer and then have that same copy activate on a totally different computer?

Me too. But as I haven't bought it yet, I can't be certain.

I bought Visual Basic .Net 2002 and so far I've not come across anything on it to do with activation.

there is no activation required for Visual Studio.NET. It would just give MS more headaches as developers would be continously reinstalling, upgrading, changing hardware. And why add more stress to the actaul developers? =). Also piracy of VS is less rampant/something to worry about, than for Windows and Office .. honestly, if someone had an unlicensed copy of VS and wrote software with it, well they are going to be writing software that requires MS products for others to run .. so well it works out .. eh but in short there is no activation on either the Betas or the Final products ..

Hmm...I think maybe because I have the Academic version it requires activation. I took screen shots and everything, but I can't ftp it to the server I use right now.

Basically it says that the only "personal" information they require is my country. But I'm assuming they will scan for my hardware parts and id them.

So basically I guess my question is, when you generally activate an MS product (Office or Windows), can you activate that single piece of software on two completely different machines? Thanks...

That looks exactly like Office 2000/XP activation wizard.

I believe that it is a bit different from Windows XP so it will probably send off less information. Like they said, all you need to select is the country.

you can install that on as many computers as you want. thats exactly how the trial office xp was for me.

you see, all you have to do is put where you're from. it has the asteric right next to your country. thats the only thing you need to fill out correctly.
