Visual Studio 6 on Win2k Pro?

I've had a Win98/Win2k dual boot for a few months now, but last night I deleted both OSes and just put on Win2k. When I go to install my copy of Visual Studio 6.0 Professional, a window pops up and has the title "16 bit Windows Subsystem" and contains the message "System\CurrentControlSet\VirtualDeviceDrivers. VDD. Virtual Device Driver format in the registry is invalid. Press close to terminate the application." Then another one comes up saying that the installer couldn't find Acme setup. I know that Win2k is solely a 32 bit OS, but does that mean that I can't install VS 6 on it? There has to be a way, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or could point me in the right direction. If it matters, I installed all of the Win2k updates (except SP2) prior to trying to install VS 6. Thanks in advance.

Edit: I should probably clarify that when the VDD window pops up, there is an ignore button as well as a close button. Would I be doing anything detrimental to the system if I pushed ignore?

I'd recommend reformatting the system...shouldnt be a huge detriment since u just reinstalled win2k on it...or u could try reinstalling win2k once again to see if it removed the older 16 bit VDD off of it, but I am thinking that somehow the win98 stuff is messing with your installation...id go with the reformat tho just to keep it simple.

Yeah, I would also agree that there must be some registry corruption in your system. Perhaps some hardware drivers installed poorly? Although I can't really see how that would affect the installation of VS6.

I have it running on my machine fine... not to mention the leagues of programmers at MS who are all running Windows 2k plus visual studio.
