I think it is. Give the express editions a try, they are free and give you a good feel of what the program is like. You can't do the really advanced stuff with it, but its good for everyday programming stuff.
I have been using the 2005 betas and have found that there is no big benefit to upgrading. VS 2005 offers some new controls and simplifies a few things, but nothing earth shattering.
But then you have to ask yourself:
But of course you will eventually upgrade to it right? You have too. So why not now?
Dose anyone know if they are giving away free copies at the Best of Visual Studio 2005 Launch tour? I went to one back in 2002 and recived XP and VS.NET.
Don't just learn about the new software. Walk away with it. Attend the Special Edition Launch 2005 event, and you'll receive a free copy of Visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition and SQL Server? 2005 Standard Edition
