So a week ago, I got a phone call from a friend, and while I was on the phone with him, I looked down at my starbucks coffee cup (the little hole in the top that if you cover it, you can't drink out of it).

Today, on the way back from starbucks, I looked down at the coffee cup, and was immediately reminded of (deja vu) that conversation we had a week ago. Without the visual trigger, I would have never ever remembered the conversation, even if someone had tried to bring up "Hey, remember that convo you had with so and so?" - or it would have taken me a few minutes to remember what we had talked about.

Odd.

Who's got this skill?

Everybody does have this.
One of the tricks in increasing memory is to associate an image (any image) with the information you wish to recall. this pairing results in higher recall.

This occured by accident in your case. But you can certainly force the association.

So for example if you wish to remember a person's name you can think of the name and pair it with an image (like a tomato) it often helps if it's meaningful, but it doesn't have to be...
