Hey..

I'm trying to install Visual C++ .NET and it does not seem to install the Setup Runtime Files. It says it failed to install it. I don't know what's wrong. It installed the frontpage 2000 extensions just fine. I'm still not past the 1st step of the installation process. There are 3 steps and the 1st step is to update my files. But I can't get past the Setup Runtime files.

I'm running Win XP Pro SP1, 256 mb DDRam, 3.5GB free space..

It's been a while since I installed it myself but also ran into problems installing it. So I'll be trying to remember.....

From what I remember, there is a CD that comes with it, not Disc 1,2, or 3, but look for the one that says Microsft Windows Component Update. Use that CD to update the files.

Also, from what I remember was on the screen for the 3 steps, I had to click on step one to get it going....

Sorry I can't be much of a help.

in visual studio .net, component cd is cd5

but you can't just insert it.. insert disk 1 and select step 1 (Which is update components)

I inserted Disc 1. Then, it asked to insert Disc 4, which is the Windows Component Update Disk. But it still fails to install the Setup Runtime files.
