Got this CD with a book I had to buy for a class this coming fall; it's a very stripped-down version of VB. Stuck the CD in my desktop's CD/DVD drive, attempted to install it, and gotthis message right at the end of the install. Thinking it was a bad CD, I took it with me to school today with the intention of returning both it and the book to the store. Just for the heck of it, I stuck the CD in my laptop to try it again before returning everything - and it worked. So I know the CD is not bad. But I cannot get it to install on my desktop no matter what I do. I've tried two different CD drives and even tried copying the CD to the harddrive and running setup from there. No dice. Any ideas? If you're curious about the specs for either of my computers, check my .sig.

Can not read the fine print on the error message snapshot.

However, failures on S/W installs on a system that is OK on another indicates that either a file is locked open, preventing a replacement/overwrite or incampatible utilities (DLL Hell)

"EagleKeeper" - hover the mouse over the bottom right part of the image, and click the "expand" icon that will appear.
It basically says that some setup files are damaged...

Things that could do that:

You ran the installation on 2k or XP from a non-administrator account.
The installation requires a different version from a file - maybe you need to install a service pack. Does the notebook have the same OS?
It could be that the installation just conflicts with a different file, in which case a reinstall may help.

Those are some of the things that come to mind.

RSMemphis -

Both of these systems (Bebop & Swordfish-II) are running XP Pro, and in both cases I ran the install as the administrator. When you say that a re-install may help, are you talking about re-installing XP?
