Vista + XP Machine home network.

I currently have one machine with XP, one machine with Vista. At first I was unable to see the other machine so like the guides I googled, it told me to install that Link Layer patch, as well as put them in the same workgroup. I can now see the XP machine on the Vista computer. Here is where it gets annoying:

The XP machine can connect to the Vista machine and I can view the folders there, but whenever I try to access the XP machine from the Vista machine it just comes up with:
Network Error
Windows cannot access \\MACHINE2

I can ping the XP machine from the Vista machine and the pings go through. I have also had both of these machines networked back when I had XP so all the file sharing options and such that is required is activated. I have no clue how to resolve this.

Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings, http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is allowed to be shared.
