Vista + XP dual boot?

I install Vista 32 on one partition and then I install XP 32 on another. After install XP, I'm not able to boot into Vista. In fact, no boot menu show.
Anyone know how to fix this? Try adding Vista manually to XP's boot.ini but doesn't help.

Vista has a new boot loader, you need to install xp first then vista (or repair vista's boot loader from repair mode)

Yes and vista's boot loader is some complicated SOB I couldnt figure out how to change the default priority so that XP will start if i dont do anything... nor could i cange the wait time

It's quickest (IMHO) to just use the 'Startup and Recovery' editor in System Properties/Advnaced within Vista .

I can not boot into Vista at this time. It said the file "hal.dll" is missing or corrupted.
Any idea?
Try Vista fix (via installation DVD) but no change.

Tried the Vista Repair on the DVD again and go deeper into options, it does work now!
However, XP seems to go down instead. Oh well!

I wouldnt say it is any more complicated than XPs. You just need to find it first 😀

You don't need to figure it out (unless you like to tinker). VistaBootPro works great for messing around with the Vista boot loader, and it is free. I had XP Pro and Vista RC1 dual booting, and then I got Vista Business RTM. I needed to get back to just XP before installing the RTM version and VistaBootPro took care of that in about a second, even reinstalling the boot.ini file from XP so I didn't have to mess around with the recovery console.
