Vista / XP dual boot question

I installed Vista Business on my laptop for work on a separate partition. Whenever I boot up it gives me the choice of Windows Vista or earlier version of Windows. I can press F8 to see boot options for Vista (safe mode, etc.), but I can't do that for Windows XP Pro. The F8 option disappears when I have "earlier version of Windows" selected.

What if I wanted to get into Windows XP safe mode? Is that just not possible now?

Nobody knows?

[edit] Nevermind. All I have to do is simply press F8 quickly after selecting "Earlier Version of Windows".
