Vista/ Xp dual boot problem

Hey i cant boot into xp. I get a windows/system 32/hal.dll is bad. If i boot from my windows xp disk and tell it to repair the drive with xp will that mess up my vista on another drive when i dual boot?

Ok the xp disk doesnt recognize the drive that xp is on to repair
