I use my system for gaming, surfing the internet, a few office apps from time to time and Personal finance using Quicken and some multimedia applications.

Is it worth getting ultimate or not? I'm going to get x64 in either one.

hey,
well i have hp and i cant think of anything im laking that ultimate would have... i didnt even consider ultimate, though i gave it a testrun before finally deciding that hp is good enough for me...
personally i dont think its worth the extra, atleast for me it wasnt

If you go to the Vista website, it'll list the differences. To me, the big diff between them was Remote Desktop which I used quite a bit. Granted, there are free alternatives out that can replace Remote Desktop.

I agree, just look at the differences and see if any features in the Ultimate version ARE needed for you.

In my case Home Premium version had all my needs so the extra features Ultimate version had were a waste of money and not needed in my case.

Home Premium is normally good enough for most users, just like jalaram stated, check at Microsoft website to be double sure.

You can downgrade windows Vista ultimate to windows XP professional
Only business + ultimate can downgrade
