Vista x64 File Transfer Problem

Everytime I copy/move large files (usually folders with multiple 200mb to 350mb) either locally or over the network, the file gets copy/move for about 1-2min and it completely stops and halts.

When I transfer over network and look at the network utlization graph, I can see the utilization being 55% to just 0% in an instant.

Any idea what is causing this? I tried the typical 'tweaks' (such as disable auto-tuning, remote differential, etc) but didn't help me at all...
 
Which service pack do you have? SP1 was supposed to fix a lot of these problems. When transferring over the network what OS is it going to?
 
I have SP1, and it was from Vista to XP. But transferring from different hard drive to another locally also occasionally causes the problem.
