Vista won't play anything with WMP or even open WMP

It worked for a month, then one day I turn on the PC and it freezes with weird lines on the screen. I tried three or four times to reset the computer, but it only starts up without a video signal.... it finally turns on with signal and doesn't freeze. Now I have this problem.

Vista Ultimate RTM 6.0.6000
NVidia GeForce 4 Ti4200 8x AGP

Can anyone help?
