Hi all.
I've already got the Windows 7 Home Premium DVD with the intention of replacing my
installed Vista Ultimate.
(but first I've got to get a USB external hard drive to get all my data and documents off).

In the meantime, I'm trying to understand the recommendations in Windows update,
for example, it's advising I install a driver for my onboard SATA controller
from 2006 when the much more recent one I have installed is working fine.
This update is listed as "important" :
Nvidia corporation driver update for nForce 410/430 SATA controller 33KB

I installed one of the Nvidia unified forceware updates (outside of WU) and
everything seems to be in OK, The device manager shows the drivers are
loaded and no errors reported.
yet still WU is advising me to install some updates, the remainder are "optional".
This includes the following. One thing I noticed, they all seem quite small
except for the display driver update.
nvida-display Geforce 860GT 126MB
nvidia - Network - Nvidia nForce networking controller 435KB
nvidia - system nForce Hypertransport Bridge 12 KB
nvidia Corp. driver update for Nvidia nForce SATA controller 177KB

As can be seen, the SATA controller update is listed in both
"important" and "optional" and they appear to be different. What a mess.
