Hello,

I just built my new computer and my main problem has been when I try to standby vista will shut off but the computer won't do anything! I tried changing settings in BIOS such as S1 and S3 but nothing works. Does anyone have any ideas?

I think that's a bug in Vista. That happens to me sometimes also. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I wish it was more reliable, because I like sleeping much better than shutting everything down.

I notice running STEAM in the systray wont let my vista machine sleep. Close STEAM and it sleeps fine.

I think this must be a settings problem on my motherboard or some kind of hookup in the case or mobo pin problem. I don't have any of those programs installed, anyone have any ideas?

Do you have any USB devices connected (other than mouse/keyboard)?

FWIW, I know of one Dell system (w/ factory installed Vista)that will not reconnect to the internet after standby. It requires a reboot to correct, thus making standby completely worthless.
