Vista vs XP dowload speeds

What about transferring a file from another local PC? DO you have a network? There's lots of places online that talk about slow file transfers but not specifically downloads...

As far as my experience shows.

If the TCP/IP stack is optimized with the exact same parameters (MTU, Rwin) there is No significant difference.

In addition as Kelemvor said above PC to PC is what count. measuring through the Internet is an experiment in playing Roulette.

Big difference between HDs speed and level of fragmentation would probably be more of a factor than differences between OS'.

I'm not networking, PC to PC is irreverent. File transfers between drives is slightly slower but not horrible. Even my AV(avira) downloads definitions way faster than Vista on my XP drive. The difference is extremely noticeable.

Well let me put it this way.

The differences that you get are Not inherent to any known differences between Vista and XP.

So concentrate your effort to find what is wrong with this specific Computer and its configuration.
