Vista volume settings

Ok in Vista the volume settings are different than in XP. How do I get the Volume settings to be the same as it was in XP? Like if right click on the speaker icon in the systray, and go to volume mixer, I should have options to raise or lower Wave, CD, Main, etc...

As far as I can tell, you set the volume for each application individually as it's running. The mixer is different and there's no going back. I'm no so sure I like it, personally. I can't adjust my line in volume! 🙁

Sure you can. Go to control panel -> sound. Click on the recording tab and double click on line-in. Go to the levels tab and you can adjust the volume.
Yeah, except it's listed as "not available", and when I adjust the volume it has no effect, despite my satellite receiver clearly being plugged into my line in.

It's a known bug in Vista.

I can adjust my line in, but the volumes in Vista seem alot different than in XP, in XP I left all the levels at default (at 50%) when I do that in Vista, sound comming from line in is so loud and sound comming from vista apps are low or loud...so annoying..
