so far, no big issues for me, just some quirks and annoyances...

1) icons and desktop setting
screen is already set a 1900x1200 but the damned icons are too big for my personal taste, can i decrease the sizes of icons?

2) i heard of gamers dual booting vista and xp. to do this, what are the simple/basic steps? is there a sticky somewhere?

3) my RAM is Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2-1066 but last i ran it, it shows at 800MHz in vista.

thanks!

1. What Loup said. Hold control, rotate mousewheel...standard Microsoft zoom control.

2. The easiest is to install XP first then Vista.

3. This is what your bios is reporting. What do you see during post?

I partitioned my HD into two partitions, had XP installed on 1 partition, then continued installing Vista on the other, when my pc boots, it will ask wether I want to boot into Vista, or into an 'older version of windows', aka XP :p

If you got 2 HD's, I think it's suggested to unhook the one with XP on it, and keep the other one running, then install Vista on that one. For more/better guides look around this forum though. I only got 1 HD so haven't tried this myself.

Mm...I'm a gamer and I game in Vista...I see little reason to go back to XP for gaming purposes, unless a game flat-out refused to run in Vista. I do dual boot with XP but that's because my Line 6 guitar hardware won't work in Vista 64-bit.

Performance concerns were an issue 6 months ago due to crap drivers, but now things are much better and most games will have almost the same performance in Vista and XP, with Vista maybe being 5-7% slower (nothing you would notice outside benchmarking).

Yep, its really only worth bothering dual booting for gaming if you're so hardcore than the difference between 70fps and 67fps is going to be life or death.

Well I still prefer XP over Vista for daily usage. I dunno, but the way the folders look, how I get all these annoying notifications about something I'm going to install needing admin approval, and the fact that all my favorites, passwords and what not are in all in XP, made Vista something I only use to review Vista only games, that's it :p And I got Ultimate to boot lol :p

One nice thing about Vista is you can make folders and other icons look any way you want with ease.

You can turn off UAC from 'user accounts' in the control panel if you don't like it.

Bookmarks are a property of your browser, not the OS, just copy the favorites file and move it. I keep a hard copy of usernames & passwords in case I need to reinstall.

thanks, well noted that Vista vs XP not too much difference, at least not worth it for the hassle of Dual Boot.

well, i was concerned because my latest gaming/addiction (warcrack) seemed to have issues in Vista... well, thinking of cutting back anyways.

so far, i think i like vista enough to give it fair chance for me to get familiar with it.

like all things new, takes time to learn and know...

Heh same. I boot into Xp 99/100 times, I've got Home Premium, but I'm feeling I wasted my $$ at this point. Oh well

Running WoW fine here (as are most I think), what kinds of issues are you having?

Yeah, I've never heard of ANY issues with WoW, besides maybe the loss of 3d sound unless you have a x-fi.
