If you have Windows Vista, can you go to Program Files and see if the Windows Calendar folder is shared? It will have the usual folder icon but with a small blue icon on the bottom-left of it with 2 people.

Is your's like that or is it just a plain yellow folder?
 
Mine is just plain yellow, I would imagine because I've not published a calendar yet so the folder doesn't need to be shared.
 
its not shared by default, but there is a new 'advanced share' option that allows the folder to be shared.
