I woke up to my computer looking a bit strange... so I checked the resolution, and sure enough, it's at 1360x768. So I opened Display Settings, moved the slider back and forth, but 1440x900 was not an option!

I use Nvidia nforce 430 drivers (motherboard video). I downloaded new drivers this morning and installed them, but that didn't help either... still cannot choose 1440x900.

Any advice?

I've been meaning to wipe out the HDD and install XP... maybe its about time to do that!!

wow, that sucks. The more I hear about the Vista the less I'm interested in getting it.

Do you know what the update the was?

I've heard that the first sp for Vista is on it's way, maybe that can help. In the meantime try to use something like Driver Cleaner to uninstall your drivers and reload the ones that you need.

Make sure that the Monitor's Refresh Rate is the correct one.

Go into Nvidia control panel and see if there is a selection for HDTV. I recall that on mine it is selected by default and with that selection I cannot change the way it scales a non-native image (I don't like playing "normal" aspect ratio games stretched out wide, I want the bars on the sides). Also, try deleting the monitor from device manager and rebooting to let Windows re-detect it.

In addition to what Zap said, you can download an actual profile for your monitor from the manufacturer...or should be able to. That may help.
