Just bought a combo deal off eBay. A little suprised at the price I got on it.

The package included the following:

- Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
- Intel DG965WH motherboard
- Windows Vista RC1 (seller will ship the final release of Vista Ultimate when it comes out)

After looking in what is included in Vista Ultimate this looks like a pretty good deal since I only payed $315 shipped for the whole package.

Was this a good move on my part?

I am mainly interested in the Vista Media Center since I will be using the CPU and mobo for my new HTPC.

Ultimate is what you want, as long as you are sure it's not pirated. The price seems very good.

I know it is not pirated. The guy will ship me the official version of Vista Ultimate once he gets it from MS.

It was an auction on ebay. It is the Intel Retail Edge program.

Take a look at this thread: http://www.fatwallet.com/t/18/642057/

I got really lucky b/c there are about twenty or so different auctions for the same package and their average price was around $400. I was willing to pay up to $350, but like I said I got really lucky.

It is a decent board. Not great for overclocking, but I really didn't buy the package for the mobo. I have read a few reviews of the board and I think it is one of the better Intel 965 boards on the market right now.

I already have an Intel Bad Axe. I will just put the DG965 board on ebay or maybe up on Anandtech's for sale thread. The same board is $130 at newegg, so I would be happy to get $85-$100 out of it. If I get around that much out of it, then I would have bought an Intel E6300 and Vista Ultimate for around $200.

Since Vista Ultimate is supposed to have a retail of $399 that seems like a pretty decent deal to me.
