Vista Ultimate x64 system halt while playing videos with sli enabled

Since I've done my clean install of vista ultimate x64 with sp1 I'm seeing this strange message when I watch videos with sli still enabled. It varies as to how long it takes but eventually it will happen. My system will halt and give me a blue screen with a hardware failure message. If I disable sli it doesn't happen. Anybody else getting this? I'm wondering if a codec is interfering with the nvidia driver. This never happened before I did my clean install and installed sp1. No other error messages come up. I can game for hours in sli mode and never have a problem but try to watch a few minutes of a video clip and there it is. Both of my evga cards are using the same bios version. I'm curious if anyone else here is experiencing this.

I ran into similar problems when I was running 7800GTX SLI, after I installed the Xvid Codec. There was a confilt with Divx and Xvid. I had to blow away the OS and re-install.

And not install Xvid, to fix it. One of the reasons that I've steered away from SLI since. There are always little gotcha's that are going to cause failures of some kind or another.

Maybe before you re-installed you had some codecs installed that you don't now?

Just keep in mind that I've got the g92 core with the video output enhancements that aren't present on the g80 core.

Update: I uninstalled the vista codec pack I was using and installed the latest beta version of it and the problem appears to have gone away. I'll keep you updated on my progress. I was using the shark007 vista codec pack version 4.62 when I had the problem. Tonight I've updated to the 4.63 beta 1 and the problem hasn't surfaced yet. I'm hoping it was a codec problem.

OK... perhaps that is the key difference. I installed SP1 last night, with mixed results.

Crysis worked pretty well on day 1.
Stopped working for unknown reasons (Cannot load file & some other error msg. about side-by-side)
SP1 lets Crysis 32bit exe load up... but it loads in 800x600 and the mouse is way off its target. will lock up pretty quickly.
64bit will not even load. (black screen)

Back to the point... video works fine. I think I am running .25 or .35 drivers... I will double check tonight.

When I first installed a video driver I used the 169.25. I've since migrated to the 174.74 beta which seems pretty good. My problem occurred with both drivers so they weren't to blame. So far so good with the codec problem. I hope you get your system squared away.

Well it happened again last night so I'm back to square one. I suppose that I could actually have a hardware problem with one of my gts's. Now I'll have to pull one out and see if it happens and if it only happens with a particular one or with both. If it happens with either of them singly then I don't know. If I had a bad card I would think that it would happen during gaming and not video playback.

Well I've flashed to the 1202 beta bios and I also discovered that I was using the generic ms monitor driver so I installed the lg driver for my monitor as well. Now we'll just have to see what happens from here.
