Vista Ultimate and PDF files

Hey,

I recently installed Vista Ultimate on my computer and I seem to be having problems opening up PDF files.

I have tried using Adobe Acrobat, FoxIt pdf reader and a couple of other programs but none seem to work.

Is there a fix for this problem, and if there is could someone please point me in its direction.

Thanks.

What are the exact symptoms? Do the programs themselves fail to install, fail to start, or do they start but refuse to open the PDF file, or what happens?

I've used Adobe Reader 8 on Vista Ultimate (64-bit) and it works OK, other than the stupid Adobe Update Manager tripping UAC prompts. So it ought to work.

Well its weird, Acrobat reader flat out refuses to install for me, and the other ones i tried install but i get an error when i try to open a pdf file.

whats the exact error?

i've been using foxit on vista x64 without problems.
did you run the foxit exe as an administrator first? i did that to get the file association.

i remember reading that adobe had a bug in their installer for vista installs.

i'm assuming you're using the latest versions of each?
