Vista Ultimate 64

Vista U. 64/ no game icons appearing. games from Steam. Like DOD:S, Insurgency, Age of Chivalry. Also Crysis launch icon is not appearing after install. Trying UT3 now and will see if it works. COD4 worked.... 😕

Help

Games from Steam never put icons on the desktop automatically (at least I don't even remember one doing it). Right click on them in the games list and press "add shortcut to desktop"

none of my games have put icons on my desktop. which sorta pisses me off since i have to go thru my Programs files to find the exes and make shortcuts.

also ive noticed now most of the new games this yr dont ask to make icons.

also for some reaosn none of my games have put anything in the Programs list on the Start button, only UT3 made a list there.

yeah, i've had to manually put the icons on desktop eg ut3, age of chivalry, insurgency & crysis so far 🙁 which gives me a bad feeling about this OS install

I have the same problem, although it hasn't really crossed my mind until now. My assumption has always been that this is because the installers see Vista and assume Games Explorer will be used.

I install all of my games to the games folder. Then I just click and drag the game to desktop.

This is a new "feature" of Vista - it puts many game shortcuts (at least for all of the branded "Games for Windows") in "Games Explorer," which is located under all programs->games, rather than on the desktop. I think the "point" of this is to have a convenient games launcher that also contains links to update games, download patches, visit the publisher's website, uninstall, etc. But personally, I find it a pain in the butt to fire up games explorer every time I want to play.
