Vista UAC........

Guyz..
I have problems...
After installing Vista Ultimate in my PC, I installed my favourite programs...

All is running well....

Until I disabled UAC, I disabled it bcoz its bugging me, everytime I installed some new programs, it always ask for Administrator rights..

After I disabled UAC & restart my PC, I tried to installed Acrobat Reader 8, I cannot install it, its says that I have no write permission to the temp folder where the program is extracted...
So I enabled UAC back & reboot....

Installed Acrobat again, UAC ask again for User Permission to continue....Then it was installed..

I guess when I disabled the UAC, I need to manually permit writing when installing programs...

Can you guyz tell me how to install programs when the UAC is disabled....??

Maybe you disabled UAC in a weird way, there are multiple ways to do it...you did it via msconfig, right? (Tools tab)

no, i did it via:
(control panel/user accounts & family/user accounts/turn user account on or off)....

Maybe firearm manufacturers should stop putting safeties on firearms too, since they keep the weapon from firing when you pull the trigger.

In this day & age, it's a good thing when stuff can't be installed without your personal say-so.

Acrobat Reader has a bug where UAC is required to be on to install it. It should be covered on their website.

Another alternative is Foxit Reader,less bloated then Acrobat,it also works great on my Vista x64.

Foxit Reader 2.2.

Did you by any chance changed the temp variables in the Environmental Variables? I remember changing TEMP to USERPROFILE, and Acrobat 8.0 refuses to install with the same error. UAC was not disabled.

These are the default values on Vista and XP (actually, Vista is slightly different):

Variable Name: TMP
Variable Value: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp

Variable Name: TEMP
Variable Value: %SYSTEMROOT%\Temp

When you disable UAC, Vista automatically declines all software installs which require UAC.
