Vista stuck in patch update, keeps rebooting

I just got this email... any ideas?

Hey Jason I have a problem with Carol's laptop.

She turned off her pc while the computer was installing MS Vista updates.

The laptop starts like it wants to open windows but it goes to a screen that says it
installing updates, 0 of 100%.

The computer then says it' shutting down and shuts down.

With in 10 seconds the computer restarts and goes back to the installing MS Vista
updates, then shuts down, then reboots to installing updates.

It just keeps going through the cycle of starting up and shutting down..

I tried to start in safe mode but it does the same thing.

Is there anyway I can get into windows so I can do a recovery or is there some way I
can dump the updates and start over.

Any help would be great!

Thanks john

That's what restore points are for. Press F8 during boot then take the option to go back to the last good configuration.
