Just installed my new 8800GTS 512. Had an 8800GT but sent it back for this and in between was using my 7600GS backup card.
So, I uninstall drivers and do a driver clean and install the GTS 512, load the latest drivers, reboot and go to set my resolution and it says the card is a 7600GS in display settings but when I go to advanced there is the tab for the 8800GTS 512, device manager also shows 8800GTS 512. Ran 3dmark06 and got a GTS worthy score but it says the card is a 7600GS. Tried to run Rivatuner but it thinks the card is a 7600GS and gives me no overclocking option and very limited other settings.
Uninstalled drivers, driver cleaned and reinstalled and still same thing. When drivers are not installed it says generic vga adapter like it should.
